Reverse Osmosis Water

Are there RO units that do not have to be pre-installed into your plumbing? If so, where can they be purchased. I was thinking of a kind of "hose" that can be directly fed into the RO unit and filtered accordingly for the water output. Is there such a thing?

Re: Reverse Osmosis Water

The Filter Guys

the awnser is yes... you dont need to do anything speical to get it hooked up...

if your renting and worried about makeing a leak its ez.

home depot for 1/4 push in fitings.. home depot for 2 bags or 20ft 1/4 line.. a few 1/4 in and 1/4 out ball vaulves

simple perice valve will come with the setup...

but i replaced with a nice one from home depot..

i put a ball valve in there right ther after i punched in... so that when i leave...

i can simple close the valve unplug from the the other side. and be done...

my rodi can be removed in like 2 min with out any water leaking.
the yellow line then goes thur that wall and to the holeing tank on the ground there.

Re: Reverse Osmosis Water

The RO unit needs some pressure in order to "Force" the water through the membranes. I have seen a portable RO unit but it's output was very minimal at best. Sorry I don't have a link handy right now.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Reverse Osmosis Water

i know i know every time i show my Ro setup... it goes right to rc ing...

Helo's planes gas and electice cars.. boats trains the hole thing.....

if you are on city water you will have more then enough psi.. if not.. then make sure its behind your Pressure tank... as i did.

the copper line comes from the pressure tank and goes to the water heater....
you want to not use hot water... thats bad... that blue valve can be turned off.. and then unpluged right there to remove the ro unit....

the clear line you see is going from the ro holding tank to the ATO..

anyway
the other side of the wall.....
yellow line in to the rodi unit... another valve that i use to turn it on and off..
(2 ball valves on the inlet side)

Re: Reverse Osmosis Water

interesting. There's nothing like a big unit that all I would be required to do is plug it in and let it run?

Re: Reverse Osmosis Water

Original question: Yes there are RO/DI hookups that connect directly to a hose. Basically any RO/DI unit can connect to a hose. All you need is the hose adapter connector. I ordered my RO/DI unit from Water General and it has been a great unit. They also have the hose adapter as an option. Check on ebay if you are looking for an RO/DI unit, there are good buys if you look.

Re: Reverse Osmosis Water

I see. You've all provided me some interesting ideas. I have another question that has crossed my mind lately. Which is better to have? A Reverse Osmosis system or a De-Ionized system? This is probably an age old question.

Re: Reverse Osmosis Water

Ro is one thing... and Di is another...

you will not be able to use just DI water... Di water is not clean it is Deionzed not

ro water is cleaned then after its cleaned its DI'd
