time to rebuild the 55...

hey guys ,how are all of you this evening?

you remember i switched my origanal f/owlr 55 over to a 75 gallon with 20 gallon refiugium.and recently bought my first mushroom(wich is almost fully expanded under the m/h's

well i put the ol 55 back up and filled with water about two days ago.i have a 10 gallon tank for my refiugium.well the salinity is slowly comeing to par.every night ill drain about a half of a 5 gallon bucket out of my 55.then refill with established tank water from my other two tanks?(will this help establish water quality as far as biological?)if so why and why not?i need to set this up because my 75 is going to be my reef and i have to much fish in it or now.so the 55 will be kinda like a big q/t with no substrate.is this ok for the time being?

What you plan will give it a start toward biological filtration. However, to really get it established, I would add the usual amount of LR. That's about 50 to 75 lbs.
