| Elegance coral | ?s on the upgrade i have a 55 gallon fowlr tank im upgradeing to a 90 or a 120.i was wondering could i syphon the water out of the 55,use new sand,then fill up the rest with ro water.woulkd that be ok to add fish sooner..please let me knoe asap thanx |

| Tridacna maxima | Re: ?s on the upgrade you can do that. what i would do is set up the new 90/120gal tank. put a few good peices of rock on the bottom before adding sand, gives something to build on that fishes cannt dig under. put the new sand in and fill about 1/2 the tank with new salt water. get the temp right and the ph all good. then add whatever "old" sand you have and the rock. you can top off the water with the old, it will not make any difference in stabilizing your bio. but keeping the rock in the best possible condition will help. FYI the longer the rock is out of the water the more die off and less bio filtration there will be(will take longer to cycle). also if you move the rock from the tank with a nice ph and temp to the other tank without these being good there will be mass die off.
