Will someone please beat my husband about the head?

Can anyone suggest a really weird exotic, possibly carnivorous fish/creature that will satisfy my husband's craving for exotic fishies but still be "beginner" safe? (and not eat live things preferably, for my sake... I could live with a mantis I guess.)

Mike's got a 14 and a 5 both cycling now. He's undecided what to put in them. There's a sunpod 70watt, 14K on the 14, which is an aquapod, there's just 18watt flourescents (PC I think) and actinics on the 5. He does like the look of a nano with lots of pretty coral and one fishy or shrimp but them goes off and flicks through LFS sites with weird creatures.

Warty frog fish are really cool, pretty easy to keep as long as they are not overfed. Make sure to buy a specimen that has converted over to prepared foods (usually frozen squid, silversides or krill), eats well and doesn't have a bloated stomach. They come in a wide variety of colors and just look cool.

I like the Peacock Mantis idea in the 5 gallon. For the 14 gallon maybe a pistol shrimp and watchman goby combination. Both of those should be agressive enough for him. Tell him not to hand feed the mantis shrimp.

We need to be sure our husbands never meet.

At least yours is just browsing and has his own tanks. Mine buys stuff and adds it to the reef.

I can understand. Get him the Angler! I love mine and i keep it in the refugium. It is very happy there and i was able to convert it to frozen foods. There's still a damsel swimming around in there! It must like the shrimp better.
