| Social Darwinism victim | garden eels Could anyone tell me anything about garden eels? Mike is interested and I can't seem to find any info that isn't about someone diving and seeing them. So far I've got that they get 40 cm long, eat plankton and tiny things in the water. Any idea how big a tank they require or if they cannot be kept with any fish/corals/inverts? Or not even recommended for a hobbyist? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Smile Maker | Re: garden eels It's my understanding that they can't be kept with aggressive eaters either. They are very shy and won't feed if fast swimmers and eaters are rousting about. Just what I heard when I inaquired about them at the LFS. |

| Totally back ![]() | Re: garden eels Most garden eels don't acclimate to captivity well at all. I've yet to see one in person that has been kept more than a few months (I have read of several people doing it, but I haven't personally seen it). They are a gorgeous fish, but really I don't think 99% of aquarists out there should even consider buying these. JMHO.

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: garden eels Mike is considering a lot of stuff. I'm going to try to steer him to the warty hogfish like Mike (good name!) suggested.

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: garden eels OK, he's been interested in the mantis since Beezlebob put his videos up. Questions are: can he put a couple of featherdusters in there or will they get eaten too? and how does one keep the tank clean without a cleanup crew?

| Totally back ![]() | Re: garden eels Mantis's liek to move stuff around them, as well as dig around. I would avoid the feather dusters, I would suggest xenia, zoos and mushrooms in a mantis tank.
