| Tubeworm | Coraline turning white? Ok I know that I'll have to test my parameters and stuff and I'll do that tonight and get them up here as soon as my home internet is back up. they did something stupid at the end of my street and cable has been out for 2 days. Anyways. I got to feed this morning and I notice the the 3 piees of purple coraling covered rock that i got from a local guy who was breaking donw his tank has started to get lightish pink and even white in some areas......the wierd thing in I have ne wcoraline growth all over the glass everywhere and is looks fine? Other than a 2 gal water change 2 days ago i haven't done anything....and the waterchange has been done the same way since the beginning of the tank. The rock has been in the tank for about 2-3 months.....isn't that a bit too long for "new die-off"? Espiaclly with the other new growing even on the lowest part of the glass. No change in lights or anything... Any ideas?? ![]() |

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Coraline turning white? Coralline will turn white when exposed to air for a long time or if calcium levels drop. Did the new rock get exposed to air for a long time? Strange that it has been in your tank for over two months and is just now turning/fading.... Anyhow, check your calcium/alk/mg to see if all is well.

| Tubeworm | Re: Coraline turning white? Yes it is very odd but I think it has to do with the tank differences. It was only out of water from tank to tank...maybe an hour or so?? His tank was struggling and he had gotten the rock from someone.... I have been dosing a ph and calcium buffer to get levels up and they are all ok. the new is growing onto the glass and other rocks in abundance but the 3 rocks keep getting whiter and whiter? Can that dieoff be harmful? Thank you all for your help. |

| Golden Moray | Re: Coraline turning white? I killed some of mine off doing a large WC... with the lights on... it exposed some of my rockwork to the air directly under my lighting.. Now I turn off the lights when doing that large of a WC. It re-purpled, but took time. Jason
