| Brunt of all Jokes~ ![]() | Overdrawn at the Nitrate bank?? after extensive searches into phosphates (with a lot of help ) my current thoughts on the Wart tanks little hair algae problem. In the sump I have a wee bit of H/A and really a slow macro growth rate. I have 3 clowns and a royal gramma, 140 gals of total water, feed every other day, several types of macro, probably 300lbs of lr and a 6' beckett skimmer. I have never had nitrate or phosphate register on a test kit, seems to me that im so depleted in trates that theres only enough left for the h/A to grow. any suggestions? Im considering adding some bioballs. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Overdrawn at the Nitrate bank?? No bioballs. They will just add to the tratea. Not sure what the answer is but not that. Have you tried a sea hare? I love mine and he mowed right through my HA,

| Totally back ![]() | Re: Overdrawn at the Nitrate bank?? More fish to poop in the tank? I haven't followed your hair algae problem unfortunately so I'm not sure what your issues could be, but have you looked into cooking your live rock on rotation to swing the balance in your tank?

I hate fishes, dirty little monkeys, fighting, wrecking stuff yadayada, there isnt enough h/a to warrant, a cook off or sea hair, just a little clump in the sump, ok Im obsessive , but I noticed the feather caulerpa is gone from the fuge and the grape caulerpa is not really growing. what about iron? |

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: Overdrawn at the Nitrate bank?? Oh my, you really should stop complaining. I think there are several people who would share their nitrates with you if you pay for shipping. My calerpa and chaeto wasn't growing either since my nitrates are zero (of course I never blamed the grow on loss of nitrates, I wouldn't dare). I just started with an iron supplement (very lightly dosed), too soon to tell. I run carbon all the time and my tests always read zero, so a touch in the fuge a few times a week and we will see. How long since you replaced your lights?

Lights are all about a month old, I guess the reason Im on this track is my fresh water planted tanks, Im adding phosphorous, nitrogen etc, without them I get holes in the leaves, twisted growth and a really nasty dark green hair like algae, OK Blue you run the Iron and see, Ill add a little trickle filter, lol how many bioballs to equal 1'' of fish |
