Why does stuff like this happen to me?

I'm babysitting Tim's tank again and he has a nudibranch in there. Didn't know what the thing was until he gave specific instructions on it, I just have to make sure it finds its food. (specific type of sponge.) I have to actually move it to get the food if it doesn't find it within a day.

Well, I did, and when I placed it near the food, I noticed this squishy-looking protusion on its right side on the fore part of its body. I totally freaked, thinking I'd held him too hard and squished him. That's it, this gorgeous thing was dead and I killed it. I called Tim, who's out of town for 3 weeks, crying. He laughed his a#% off when I told him what the protusion looks like. Apparently the nudibranch likes me. A LOT. The thing is its reproductive organ!!!
