| Midas Blenny | It's good to belong to a Society I went to my first Chesapeake Marine Aquarium Society (CMAS)meeting last Monday night. The meeting was supposed to have been on Sunday night, but there was a different event going on at the time, to which all of you Patriots fans can attest, so we had a Frag Fest on Monday instead of the originally scheduled program. We at one of the LFS in Baltimore, where CMAS bought 4 (turned into 5 because of demand) SPS colonies and distributed frags to members for a modest donation to the society. Worked well for the LFS as well, who offered an additonal discount on certain livestock to CMAS members during the meeting. Besides the social enjoyment of meeting fellow local reefers, the frags were great. These are two of the mounted acropora in my tank.

| Golden Moray | Great Pics!!! I also am a big believer in joining a local reef club. If you have one in your area that is active join it. If you don't have one in your area, start one.

| Star Polyps | Yep, I love my clubs. I belong to the state one WRS, and our city-wide one MARS. Great source of info, both of ours move around to different people's houses - so 12 tanks/setups you get to see in a year ... which is great learning to see what's really working for people. Never mind good times, great frag trades, and nice people ![]()

| Evil Angel ![]() | I joined Michigan Reefers and am so thankful to have other people in the area that have the same passion for reefing. This weekend we have a frag/swap meet and I can't wait to attend. I already put in the word to take a few SPS frags and some Zo's from other people. I haven't even got there and have spent close to $100.00 already. They said last Winter's meet brought in 125 people. Should be interesting!!! |

| Scopas Tang | Local clubs are one of the best tools any reefer can have. If you don't belong to a local club, you definately should. If there isn't one anywhere close to you and you know of few other reefers, create your own. It is pretty simple and the networking pays for itself in multiple benefits. For example, as a club, we approached the LFS in the Baltimore and DC area and we got a 10-15% discount in all livestock. We also get all the well known speakers in the trade to come and talk to us in one of the monthly meetings. We also have an all day seminar yearly with a couple of the big names (this year is Paletta and Borneman). In the summer, we have the summer tank tours in which each weekend someone hosts the club to show off their stuff and talk about all the stuff that works for them, experience, etc. It is awesome because you get to see most people's tanks and get to see who has what that you may want. That way, you know which house to break into The rest of the benefits go on and on.I couldn't tell you how happy I am to be a memeber of my local club and how many benefits I ahve gotten from it. I will be moving away from the area in a few months and that is my single most tragic thing to loose. If there is no club where I move, I will create my own. I will get to be the president, every other title, and have a daily tank tour in my own tank. ![]()
