| Contributing Member ![]() | Starting a new project, need some help. Ever started a new tank and knew you wanted to add 250W hqi halides in 10K, but weren't sure just how the different manufacturers bulbs looked? Or were doing a VHO lighting and were trying to decide between coralife and uri actinics? Once you provide the amount of light for your critters and hit your target spectrum, many manufacturer's bulbs look different, and whats more...the same manufacturers bulbs, of the same spectrum, look different as you increase or decrease the wattage. Wouldn't it be nice if there were a bunch of pictures to look at of many different bulbs and bulb combinations in different wattages and different spectrums all from different manufacturers where it was labeled, that this is X manufacturers 175W 12K MH w/ 2 X 32W CSL PC actinics on a 20g tank. You could browse through the photos looking for different spectrums and wattages to match what you want and see which one looks the best. This is something I am trying to put together, to do this I need alot of pics and specifics about the lighting on the tanks. 1) Bulb type(s) & number 2) Bulb manufacturers 3) Bulb wattage(s) 4) Bulb(s) color temp 5) Size tank they are on 6) Ballast running the bulb (if known/possible) Pictures uploaded to this thread will be downloaded and added to the gallery with full credit to you and a link to reefsanctuary.com, for example in the photo description in the gallery it will say submitted by username from www.reefsantuary.com. I hope some of you are willing to help, right now the gallery has 7 lonely photos in it ![]() www.aquariumadvice.com/bulb_comp |

| Serpent Star | Gathering a bunch of pics from different tanks, with different cameras, with different white balances will not allow you to make comparisons between different bulbs. You need to have the same tank, same camera, same settings, and then swap bulbs in order to have a meaningful comparison. See this thread: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...hreadid=254667

| Tuxedo Urchin | question for ya pro.. in your pix the tank looks great (as im sure in does in person ) but the ? is does having different halides on either side make the light different looking from one side to the other, i think of the LFS tank and its clearly brighter and different kinda light on one side of the tank??? thanks alotstrat |
