Re: Bad Temp. Problem Need Help Now

A fan blowing over the top of the tank will help bring the temp. down.
However, if the ambient room temp is - say 85 - you will not be able to lower the temp below that without a chiller.

A window air conditioner for that room may be cheaper than a chiller.

Unplug the heater just to be sure it isn't stuck ON.

Re: Bad Temp. Problem Need Help Now

I had this problem as well......almost the same temps.

Bought a 5000BTU window A/C with a thermostat and it keeps the room at 74 all day. At night, I open the windows and a fan blows in cool air.

Temp went from a daily average of 82 down to 78.

And it was a hell of a lot cheaper than a $600 chiller.

They also make those portable in room A/C now that work very well and you vent them to the outside. I set my tank up in the basement so it never gets too hot...good luck

Taco you seem to be having every problem in the book! Good advice given so far. Also leave the lights off over the tank.

Mine went that high before too. I put ice into zip lock bags and kept changing them out til the temp went back down. I got a 1/15 chiller for $250...lifesaver...but I have an aquapod.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: Bad Temp. Problem Need Help Now

Have you checked with more than one thermometer? Could be off or something. Other than that fans and bags of ice are all you can do.
