| Dragon Moderator ![]() | Re: coraline algae LOL Be carefule what you wish for! Once it's in there it's nearly impossible to get rid of and it loves creeping up on the front glass! As for what you need is some live rock that has a bit on it already and good water quality and reasonable lighting. After you are sure you have those requirements, I've always found that the more you try to get rid of the stuff the faster it'll grow for you! Seriously, if you scrape it off a surface, each place the algae lands it seems to start growing fairly well. Oh, BTW it's a fairly slow growing algae so patience helps out as well.

Oh so true! its a major pain, youll maybe see it first on plastic for some reason it likes plastic, as Scott stated alc/calk in correct amounts and what I call the mystery meat, magnesium, when my levels drop the coralline goes white, up the mag and I see growth in 2 to 3 days. May the Plague be yours hahahaha. Steve

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | Re: coraline algae Concentrate now on getting your water quality right. Once you get the excess nutrients under control, and then you can start concentrating on keeping you Alk and Ca correct, then the coralline algae will start to grow. Remeber this hobby requires a LOT of patience. Nothing good happens in a reef tank overnight, or even in a week. It can take months for things to even get started going in the right direction. Don't try to force things to happen to fast or it will crash on ya.
