| Bryozoan | It's all in the packaging............. Friday, I used up the last of my Calcium chloride that I use for dosing....... Sunday, I made the 35 mile trek to my "local" fish store...... (at least the only one with marine supplies.........) They had a 800g jar of Kent Calcium on the shelf for the low.... LOW price of only $39.99 !!!!!!! I figured I could do a little better online............ I looked......... I researched......... I looked some more....... I just purchased a 50 lb bag of Dowflake (Calcium chloride as used in Randys 2 part) for $31.12 DELIVERED !!!!!! Safety Salt, Ice Melting Products So, the way I figure it..... By doing some basic math.........I figure that I am getting over 28 times the product for about 75% of the money....... A savings of over $ 1130.00 !!!!!! I'm in the wrong business ![]()

| Sea Pen | Re: It's all in the packaging............. I have a good relationship with my LFS, anyway, her supplier charges her more than what I can buy supplies for from Marinedepot. She only doubles the price for her markup. Get this, $31 for 150g of Phosban and $60 for 250ml of ROWAphos. I'm 100% honest with her about what and where I get supplies. I still get special pricing on livestock. I have also started stocking up on pickleing lime from Walmart and Epson salt. I called the water filter place here in town one day about buying some ferric oxide hydroxide (phosban). Only $661 for a cubic yard block didn't sell it in power form. |

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: It's all in the packaging............. Unfortunately for Kahleeforneeyan reefers, DowFlake can't be found here. (No ice and snow to melt!) There are a couple of other options that are supposed to be un-adulterated enough to work in reef tanks, but I've never tried them...You can buy calcium supplements at the local pool store...but buyer beware...they may or may not be safe..... OP, great way to think "outside the box" and save some $$$!
