When Do You Run Your Lunar Lights?

Just trying to see what the majority does, and why.. please post why you choose to run the lunars when you do, thanks!

I personally run them for a couple hours after my actinics turn off, then the tank is dark, and at 8 am again they come on once more before the actinics. are there benefits to running them all day or all night?

Re: When Do You Run Your Lunar Lights?

lunar lights come on 6 am
(I get up at 6:30ish and I like to see in the tank. tank is in bedroom)
PCs come on at 1pm.
PCs off at Midnight
(I usually go to bed 11:30-midnight)
Lunars go off at 3 am.

So I leave my tank totally dark from 3 am to 6am.
I set the lights to work with my schedule.

In nature corals get moonlight that fluctuates with the phases of the moon.
Full moon = long brighter light.
New moon = not so much

Re: When Do You Run Your Lunar Lights?

Mine stay on 24/7. I like to be able to see what's going on in there at all times. Plus I want the fish to be able to have the "moon" at night.

Re: When Do You Run Your Lunar Lights?

MH 11:00am-10:30pm
Actinics 7:00am-11:00pm
Lunar lights 11:00pm-7am

I have an anemone and want my fish to be able to see it at all times. My tank is never without light.

Re: When Do You Run Your Lunar Lights?

MH 10 am - 6 pm
Actinics 9 am - 7 pm
Lunars 24/7 unless I feel like the fish need a good nights sleep. Then I'll turn them off when I go to bed between 11 pm and midnight.
