OK, I proved I'm easily gullible with prow's joke about skunk clowns.

Is THIS for real?

Sorry forgot to say;

Never heard the Temp thing but I thought it was the speed of the water when the claw snapps, causing a wave ( sound wave type effect )that knocks out the target.

Re: Be Afraid... Be very afraid... OF THE PISTOL SHRIMP!! HA

There are many sp. of Pistol shrimp and the common one's that form a symbiotic relationship with the Prawn Gobies are not a usually a threat to any fish or other shrimp. I had a full grown Tiger Pistol shrimp for a couple of years and let me tell ya when he snapped his claw it was LOUD, my wife used to complain all the time that the snapping sound would wake her up regularly during the night.

They will also snap their claws as a defensive reaction.

Re: Be Afraid... Be very afraid... OF THE PISTOL SHRIMP!! HA

That bubble is a cavitation bubble similar to what happens with Mantis shrimp when they strike. The water actually vaporizes when it reaches certain velocities and causes the phenomenon. Really cool to see on highspeed film.
