OMG! I'd better tell my cleaner shrimp to stay away from the right side of the tank! I hear my pistol shrimp firing daily, my Watchman goby doesn't seem to be phased. Perhaps he can't hear anymore!

Yea they are bonded. The goby sits outside the burrow and the little pistol just bulldozes away. It's interesting to watch. I don't know what the shrimp fires at? Could it be snails? Hermits? Robert, BTW your pairs photo is not coming through.

I'm not really sure why the one I kept would fire away, maybe it was the Bristle worms I had some big one's in my old tank. I have yet to hear any popping sounds of the 2 I currently keep. Scott that's odd about the photo, I can see it fine

Huh. I'm getting a little blue box with a question mark inside where the photo should be.

Re: Be Afraid... Be very afraid... OF THE PISTOL SHRIMP!! HA

Within the past year, I had a pistol shrimp that took out a damsel that it had lived with for over 3 years. They seemed to get along fine and the pistol popped all the time and never seemed to bother the damsel. Then one day, I hear a pop, look in the tank, and there is the damsel stunned. The fish never recovered.

Which sp. did you have reefjitsu ?
I ordered a Randalli from my LFS and instead they received some really large one's from the Caribbean and I refused to purchase them, they looked menacing !

Re: Be Afraid... Be very afraid... OF THE PISTOL SHRIMP!! HA

I am not sure of the species I had. I collected it myself for my temperate water reef tank. I never really bothered to identify it.
