Question Looking For An Old Online Dry Rock Store URL

Hello;

I was wondering if any of you happen to remember and have the URL handy for an online store that use to sell dry rock. If I remember correctly, the rocks was Hawaiian dry rock and you could even purchase up to 2,000 lbs if you wanted to.

Do you happen to still have the URL to this site?

I'm planning my new 210 gallon reef.

Now, I know what you are thinking... Why would I want dry rock instead of live rock. Well, my definition of LR is that it just has denitrifying bacteria and nothing else. No chance of hitchhikers. I've used dry rock before with great success. The bacteria grows rather quickly to match the bio-load. The caroline algae also grows nicely in about 3 to 6 months. At least that is what I have noticed in my personal experience.

Thank you so much for your help!!

Thank You And Have Fun!!!;

The place you're talking about (I think) was called hirocks.com, but I believe they went out of business a couple of years ago.

Blue_eyes53813;

Base rock is actually in an aqurium or holding tank. I'm looking for dry rock. Who knows, maybe the retailer ordered dry rock and then placed it in their holding tank to begin growing bacteria.

I would still take a risk with base rock as I would with live rock. You just never can be sure what you are getting.

Plus (again just my opinion), I would not be paying for the weight of the water in the rocks when it is weighed for packing and the additional price for shipping. In addition, I can ground ship safely.

Thank you!!!

Thank You And Have Fun!!!;
