I dont have one now,BUT I cuaght a Lime green at the beach about 2 months ago. It was like 4-5 inches long. I wanted to keep it.

Did you buy yours?
I caught mine in a minnow trap in a marsh. Ive fished the bays and marshes of NC for a long time, I never realized that mantis shrimp were found here. It scared me at first, I REACHED IN TO GET OUT THE MINNOWS, AND THE MANTIS ALMOST TOOK OFF MY FINGER. IT WAS HUGE.

oh hes the wise one.

pip the peppermint shimp was a bit too curious.

if i keep my mantis well fed, he is a little less likley to kill everyone...

a lot has to do with the species as well, but primarily, its the specific mantis' personality. each one has a very distinct and individual temperment.

A friend has one in her tank and it's eating everything. Emerald crab, and one of her fish, can't remember what it was though.

My mantis was one of many unwanted HH on my Tampa Bay Saltwater LR. Glad you avoided him, I've seen some bloody fingers from these guys!
