| Tubeworm | Percula/Ocellaris Clownfish hosts What anemones are 100% guaranteed to host ocellaris and percula clownfish and also what corals have you seen host this kind of clownfish without presenting disturbance by the fish presence? Ive always had this kind of clownfish without any anemone/coral host and was thinking of maybe adding one, probably a coral if there is one that can host them without trouble. Ive heard about alveopora anyone got experience with this? |

| Dragon Moderator ![]() | Re: Percula/Ocellaris Clownfish hosts I'm sorry but there really is nothing that anyone can recommend with a 100% guarantee as there are so many factors involved. The biggest hurdle to this question is that it's not the anemone that accepts or rejects a clownfish but the clownfish that determines if they wish to call a certain place home. Tank raised clowns are less likely to bond with an anemone then wild caught ones but that's not always a sure thing! I've had one of my clownfish attempt to bond with clove polyps, zoanthids and xenia while the other has absolutely no interest in any of those corals.

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: Percula/Ocellaris Clownfish hosts Yes very true what Michelle mentioned and keep in mind that clowns look for hosts for protection if it doesn't feel threatened it may not be in any rush to find one. The Ocellaris in particular are very picky when it comes to hosting Anemones ! I had a pair of True Perculas that had 2 Bubble Tip Anemones and a Haddani carpet Anemone and it choose a Euphyllia as a host so you just never can say for sure. Also Alveopora/Goniopora don't usually do very well in captivity and a Clown choosing them as a host isn't usually a good thing for those corals.

I'm not familiar with the LTGA, do you mean Long Tentacle Anemone ? Again with the Ocellaris it's very difficult as their natural hosts are the Ritteri the Gigantea and the Mertensii THE three most difficult to keep Pacific Hosting Anemones !

| Tubeworm | Re: Percula/Ocellaris Clownfish hosts Yeah I wasnt thinkin of adding an anemone to my clowns because I had a long tentacle before and it just kept moving through the aquarium and the clowns shown no interest in it, and the bubble tips ive heard they are difficult to mantain and besides I wont like my corals being stung by it, ill add a big frogspawn or hammer to see if I get any luck. |

| Elegance coral | Re: Percula/Ocellaris Clownfish hosts I have a pair of oscellaris, and once I put an RBTA in, they started hosting it within a week. BTA's are a pretty sure bet with hosting, and one of the easier species of anenomes to keep in an aquarium (although I really love the carpet anenomes)
