Pods oh pods where fore arte thou?

I am looking into getting a shipment of "pods" for both of my tanks. Any suggestions? I would like to hear first hand or second hand experience if possible.

I have seen this link in Sunnie's thread and curious..

mine showed up after my tanks levels zerod out. one day there were none, next day there were tons.

My tank has some pods because I have seen them in the Cheato during some of my late night "flash-light" sessions but my scooter blenny has been going to town and I don't want to risk them being depleted. I am about to order a refuge (HOB type) and want to super-seed it with a fresh batch of pods. Wanna harvest and ship me a load of them bro?

I have a refugium that I thought needed some pods. So I bought some. While I was waiting to recieve them I looked into my refuge, and there were thousands. One day none, the next day thousands. And my levels never changed. Once I added my "new" pods i did not notice any jump in population.

you can make an area in the tank that the blenny cant get to for the pods to propagate in. usually this is achieved with a small square of eggcrate tucked behind some live rock.

Well to be honest I "thought" I had that part covered. I have a large "soap-dish" in the tank sitting directly under the over flow of my HOB filter. The top was almost even with the surface of the water which was only slightly below the glass top. This evening after diner I looked at the tank and saw something just "out of place". When I came over the scooter was completely INSIDE the soap-dish and apparently wedged into a position that he couldn't wiggle out of.. at least not easily... I pulled the Cheato back and he slipped right up over the edge and "glided" down the water like only he can do. That's what started this whole "urgency" for the fuge & pods.....

Ok just how BIG can these mysterious "pods" get? I Was shining a flashlight last night into my soapdish and saw what larger than I expected... it was actually more the size of a tiny shrimp but much larger than the other little pods I have seen before. The pods I have witnessed were all erratic swimmers with more of a jerky movement... this lil guy last night was actually crawling around in the cheato more insect like that pod like. I mean it was actually walking in the fibers of cheato and seemed to be feeding on it... unfortunately it didn't like the light and quickly slipped into the green darkness...

MY pod-ulation has ballanced out....

in the start after a few days, the numbers start for muliply and then square root them self all to H*ll, they where on every squar inch of everything....

after a while they died down, and now i see them clawing around (more so at night)
my fish hunt them,

Im sure if you bought some sort of life rock they will come......

You were probably looking at an amphipod they are bigger than copepods. Take a look at this link.
Amphipod general biology.
Amphipods are also tasty morsels for your bigger mouthed fish.
