| Elegance coral | Cheap wavemaker currently, I only have one seio m620 and my mag 5 return on my oceanic 30. I have an extra MJ 1200 that I decided to add also for extra flow, however I would really like to just run that pump on a wavemaker. So, I need a timer of sorts that would turn it on/off every 30 seconds or whatever? Is there a cheap way of doing this, any diy? I'm looking to get out of this muy cheap, as I've spent way too much lately... The cheapest actual wavemaker I've found was $40 on drfostersmith.com and does way more than I need it to do. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks guys...

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: Cheap wavemaker The Seios will burn out if you run them on a wavemaker. If you ONLY want to run the Maxi-Jet, then any type of timer will work, IF you can adjust the on/off cycle to that small of intervals. In this hobby $40 is considered CHEAP! You may want to try the various "For Sale" threads on the different reef boards. I bought and sold several that way.

| Elegance coral | Re: Cheap wavemaker $6 wave maker!!!! that basically involves gutting a walmart timer and changing it from turning on and off every 24 hours to every 60 seconds.

| Elegance coral | Re: Cheap wavemaker Not a bad diy for $6, I just don't know how much I trust my electrical skills to do that. Burning my whole apartment building down would not be a fun experience. As for the seio, I know they do not work with wavemakers, and am just looking to run the mj on it. I know $40 isn't bad brand new, just looking for other ideas (such as the diy that I may look into).

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Cheap wavemaker You beat me to it dragon. I was going to post that same thread. I know the guy who did it and his stuff really works. He has lots of good diy ideas and he has done them all repeatedly. His systems are great and a lot of it is DIY.
