| Midas Blenny | curing live rock Hi, a friend give me some live or dead rock, I dont know. My question are: 1 I can use dead rock? 2 I can cure the rock with fresh water Please give me any idea

| Re: curing live rock can you use dead rock-----yes cure rock freshwater-----will = dead rock so no cure with saltwater = cured rock dead rock in saltwater with other live = cured |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: curing live rock Is the rock dry? If it is then by definition it is dead rock. It will gain some life by being in contact with live rock, but it takes a long time if ever to really become live. I would strongly recommend that you get a decent amount of live rock to seed the dry rock. It will gain some life fairly quickly but it takes time to gain the nitrate reducing properties of real live rock. Don't expect it to start working right away. If it is live rock it needs to be in saltwater to keep the life alive.
