| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: adding sand help It wont be easy or clean but I have seen where someone did it with a funnel and a tube attached to it for directional control and pin-point placement. I don't know how this affects an active set-up but it's an idea. Good luck ![]() Allen |

| Re: adding sand help siphon or scoop the CC out slowly, then add prerinsed (good rinse) fine reef sand by putting it in a ziplock bag, lower it down and slowly tip it over. Depending how much crap is in the old CC you might want to do a 25% water change after this change. |

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: adding sand help I have replaced cc with sand before. You'll get REALLY grossed out at the gunk that has settled under the cc... I would scoop/siphon out the cc over several weeks. You could remove 1/5, siphon out the funk, then add the aragonite sand in its place. Use a piece of acrylic or plastic to seperate the two sands so they don't mix. Repeat until finished.

Also, using a canister filter with a micron filter or floss will help. .... and be prepared to clean your skimmer cup! LOL~
