| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | I just noticed on a stalk or "petrified" coral that is seems to be developing this white fat chalky appearance earlier today. Then tonight I noticed on another piece of coral the same thing. It looks like a thick quick build up of chalky material. What is this and what's the good/bad of it? What causes it and does it need to be stopped if so HOW? Allen |

| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: White almost chalky growth . . I got two new "tubine" snails (that the name?) this week. could it be something they've secreted? All I can for sure is those characters can eat some SERIOUS algae! Can a snail over-eat? ![]() Hopefully someone can give me some insight into this white chalky stuff problem......maybe? Allen |

| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: White almost chalky growth . . I think I may be my own worst problem ![]() After closer inspection I think that what I am seeing is where the snail has gone over the coral and totally cleaned it back to it's bleached white state. I was watching one of the snails this morning and as it slooowwwlllyyyy slide across the coral it's trail was so white it looked like I had dropped it into bleach. I'll keep an eye out just in case but I think I can call off the CSI team at least for now. ![]() Allen |
