oh and thanks for teh comments everyone.

the guys at the lfs said that they are eating flakes and some carnivore frozen stuff that they have there. im gonna try shrimp and silversides sometime later today or tomorrow and see how they do.

Re: my new dudes!

I saw that on animal planet too. The guy they stung got really, really sick. But he sure did have a nice tank behind him on the show.

Not that you're gonna get stung or anything....

Re: my new dudes!

A slurry of Adolph's meat tenderizer and water can also denature the protein poison. The meat tenderizer is a proteinase and breaks down protein, therby tenderizing the meat. How are the dudes liking their digs?

Re: my new dudes!

so far they looks good. skin and fins look good, colors are bright, breathing is regular. relatively low activity, but every once in a while they peruse the rocks.

still gotta get them eating though. im gonna get some seafood today and try some different things. also gonna call the lfs and find out exactly how he fed them. he showed me some frozen cubes that look exactly like my frozen brine shrimp cubes (cant remember the name!) and said they were eating that. i shouldve gotten him to show me!

Re: my new dudes!

I have been told and this could be wrong but the silversides are the best food for these guys ive been told the shrimp just does not do as much. because its harder to digest

Re: my new dudes!

i called the guy at the LFS. he said he would toss in a frozen cube of marine cuisine. as it thawed and other fish nibbled at it chunks would float around the tank and the lions would then eat as well.

also he fed them last on friday. today is monday so based on what people say about lions, they eat every 3 days or so, so they should just now be developing an appetite. plus id have to account for stress from being introduced into a new environment.

so im gonna buy some of that stuff as well as some silversides if i can find them.

then i shall wiggle. i will wiggle the silversides with all my might!
