| Over Achiever | What Should I Do With New Specimens I have posted in my chronicle that my tank was electrocuted from a broken heater last night. My problem is what to do with my new specimens. A Blue Spot jawfish, Crocea clam and mushroom rock. The situation in my tank has been rectified. Should I acclimate them and hope. Do another WC, acclimate and hope. Put them in a bucket. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! |

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: What Should I Do With New Specimens The clam will be the most sensitive item you are adding. I know you are focused on Blue, but really if you can keep Clammy happy Blue will be ok. I would do more water changes. Look at my tragedy post. I ended up dropping the water to 50%, then doing WC's within that amount until parameters dropped to where they were ok. It's like a double, triple, or quad WC with half the water required. Any mercury in your heater? If so, the more WC the better. Good luck.

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: What Should I Do With New Specimens True. When I did mine I was on tap water. I personly would boil some tap water and use it to rise the temp in your RO. But that is what I would do. You could also use the new SW you have for a new holding tank for the new guys, get them setup in a temp situation for the day, then work on stabilizing the tank. How is everything in the main tank doing? Stil looking ok? Is your ammonia coming back up, going down???

| Over Achiever | Re: What Should I Do With New Specimens My ammonia is still at 0.25. The corals all look good. My anemone is little lethargic. Can't find my Flame angel without breaking down 180 lbs of rock. I have seen two Peppermint shrimps and they are moving around. My Fire shrimp is not moving and on the bottom. Could some noxious chemical have been released from the broken heater? The whole end of it was roken off, it was full of water. |

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: What Should I Do With New Specimens Yes, toxins can be released in the water - add carbon and do water changes. Stay calm, you'll get through this.
