| Plate Coral | Farewell to Goby The LFS guy warned me that the diamond goby might try to jump... I blow him off thinking that I've only got a couple tiny little holes at the back of my glass top where my siphon tube and return pipes go in... No way he would manage to get through there... Alas. My new favorite addition to the tank got a solemn burial at sea. Just figured I would post this for anyone (like myself) who might have thought tiny little gaps in your cover would be fine. Really not looking forward to confessing my sins to the LFS owner.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Farewell to Goby Man that stinks. I know exactly how you feal. I have even had fish jump through the holes in the eggcrate before. I need to put another layer of something down before I get a bluespot.

| Over Achiever | Re: Farewell to Goby What a bummer! I did the same thing with my first Midas Blenny. It jumped into my cats mouth! I learned the hard way. Now I have egg crate on my tank and will be adding some mesh screen to keep my new Blue Spot from taking the jump. Karma to you my friend! |

| Over Achiever | Re: Farewell to Goby I have an Oceanic Tech tank that has a 2 inch plastic lip all around the periphery of the top of the tank. The egg crate sits there nicely and the mesh wll rest upon the egg crate and be fastened with plastic ties. The egg crate is easy to cut and because of its grid pattern can be cut into many configurations. It can be obtained from any home improvement center. I borrowed this picture from Bluespotjawfishes thread which is where I got the idea. Last edited by Dentoid : 03-04-2007 at 03:44 PM. |

| Plate Coral | Re: Farewell to Goby Great idea, I'll have to check out that thread and see if it will work for me. My issue has been the pipes going in and coming out of the tank, so I'm not sure if I can cut the egg crate to fit exactly... I think I need something flexible or compressable to fit against the pipes.

| Sea Pen | Re: Farewell to Goby Since were on the subject of filling small cracks, I've also had 4 fish go through the overflow slots. I use the marineland (prefilter) overflow without the biofilter material installed. Got 3 of 4 fish back. 1 managed to stay in the front part of the overflow, 3 when for the e ticket ride down to the refugium. |
