Wow. I never heard that before. And funny my LFSD has one in an open top tank with the clams and sps corals for sale. He's been there at least 6 months.

I just picked one up this weekend from a different "Big City" Store and never heard of it either. Excellent post and I appreciate the info. Sorry for your losses but I know you've helped to save others!! karma for ya

Sorry about your goby! I had one for about 2 years all open top tanks... he died in the move...

I went to Lowe's and picked up some wire screening (the type for windows and doors) and framed out the top of my tank with it. Cut it real close to all my penetrations and taped up the holes. I didn't really notice any depreciation in the amount of light, but I'll be watching my corals close to be safe on that. Pretty sure all the spots a fish can get out are plugged (even put a little bit of screen on my overflow).
I suppose I've mourned the loss enough, and I'm off to get a new goby (the sand is getting dirty). My LFS owner says he still has about 25 left. Now I just have to wonder what else my wife will "make" me buy while I'm there.
