| Tridacna maxima ![]() | I have pods and plants arriving today. Due to poor planning on my part, I don't get the tank for about 4 weeks, or the live rock and sand for another week or so, so just wondering how the best way to set this up on a temporary basis would be. I have a spare tub I can use, but it would not be connected to a sump or primary tank. Should I use cycled water, a bit of sand and live rock from my tank, or start with freshly mixed water? I have an air pump or small powerhead, which would be best for circulation? Is this going to be successful this way or should I figure out a way to connect this temp tub to my tank? ![]()

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: What would be the best Temp Tank setup for Pods and Plants I wish I had answers for you. I would think tank water would be better. Using that with the addition of LS and LR from your system should help a lot. If you got plants, you will definitely want some lighting though you may be able to get away with natural light at least for a time. Just make sure it has light of some type. I would probably use the powerhead because plants take up co2 and release oxygen so I wouldn't think you will have a problem there. Just a couple of guesses. Remember I have only had a tank a bit over a year now. LOL Hopefully this will bump it to the top so someone who knows can give a real answer.

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: What would be the best Temp Tank setup for Pods and Plants You always try and take such good care of me, I appreciate that. I'm going to use the tank water, and a bit of live rock and sand from the tank and an adjustable power head. I have the light, so that isn't a problem. Burr they are cold, hope they make it. Another question, and please don't call me stupid, I should know the answer to this question. I also got some live playnkton, should I put that in there too or will it just die?

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: What would be the best Temp Tank setup for Pods and Plants I don't think I would but that is a complete gut reaction not based on anything real. Hopefully you have a spare heater as well if you are from the land of the cold.

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Anyone else willing to weigh in on whether the plankton should go in the temporary pod set up? If not fish and corals will have some lunch. I have about 10 minutes before I decision needs to be made....

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: What would be the best Temp Tank setup for Pods and Plants When in doubt split it. Worth a shot anyway. At least you get some in each place.

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: What would be the best Temp Tank setup for Pods and Plants Just did exactly that. Tank is happy about that decision. Will leave the pumps off the tank for a bit too so it can settle in. Thanks again!

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Ok here is the pic of the temporary setup. For future reference -- IndoPacific responded to my e-mailed question with the following: It does not have to be hooked up to the main tank; as long as it is aerated the Plankton will survive. PS - You can see those cute little clams and pods in the picture can't you?
