| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: Low Magnesium When I have tested IO I get about the same as you did. IO doesn't have as much calcium and magnesium as other salt mixes and I have found it is fairly high in alk. I am working on the same prob as you (except my mag is stable). My alk is around 12 (started at 17 a month ago) and with additive I have my calc stable at 420. Without additive it would be about where your's is. I have started mixing IO with Oceanic, which has higher calc and magnesium levels. Wit says to use 2 parts Oceanic and 1 part IO, which is about what I have been doing. Others are recommending using Tropic Marine Pro Reef also. I don't think these issues are the problem with your toadstool though. How is he doing anyway? WC's and a touch of iodine has always helped mine. (Depending on the type of iodine I am using I even will spot treat it, the more concentrated forms I dilute a bit with water first though).
