Maybe those that have had problems should let the manufacturer know? You'd think they would have tested it better, but they sure should be able to send out a retrofit to fix this.

Upgrade from 125 long to 210 on 1/7/07. 66 gallon sump/refugium.
10 hrs of light: 500 watt pc actinic 10 hrs
400 watt pc daylight 6 hrs
500 watt MH 4 hrs
180 lbs branch liverock. 100 lbs + assorted liverock. 3"+ DSB.

Fish - Foxface, Yellow Tang, Mimic Tang, 2 Tomato Clowns, pair True Percula Clowns (and their 6 inch pastel green carpet), Mandarin, Scooter Blenny, Bartlett's Anthias, Royal Gramma, Pseudochromis Splendens.

Blue/Gold Crocea Clam, Teardrop Squamosa Clam

Coral favorites include: 2 Acanastreas, Pink Cynaria, Green Cynaria, Birdsnest, Trumpets, Red and Pink and Green Goniporas (3), Frogspawn (peach favorite), Fox Coral, Diploastrea, Blasto, 3 Fungia (orange, purple, and green) and many others.

wow buddy fish arent dumb and nether is RumaDaddy!! whats dumb is the price of The Vortech !!!! what a total rip off i have seen these babys in action and nothing compares!!! but come on 300+ for one pump thats whack!!

ok guys...lets get this thread back on track
Dentoid maybe using some type of mesh/screen wouldn't restict the flow as much?

Home depot and Lowes sell black plastic gutter guard that would work nicely.

Great idea JFK!
I have sponges on all my maxijet intakes to keep everybody out. Even with that I did have a yellow clown goby somehow get between the sponge and the intake to meet his demise there.
Be sure to keep that sponge clean. That is probably the hardest thing about the way you are preventing a repeat incident.
Those must be major pumps to trap fish of that size.
