| Tubeworm | Alkalinity low... I tested my alkalinity today using a salifert test kit and it read 3.6dKH. It was at 10 last week but then it dropped to 7 just a couple days ago. I was attempting to raise it by adding B-Ionic 25% of the recommended dosage but now it went down to 3.6. I have snails, 1 torch coral, and two small fish for right now. They are all doing great. I dont understand why it went down though if its supposed to raise it somewhat. My calcium is still reading at 425ppm |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Alkalinity low... A couple of good links for you. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/nov2002/chem.htm http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issu...l2004/chem.htm http://home.comcast.net/~jdieck1/chem_calc3.html Hope they help with your problem. I can tell you the ph, calc, alk, and mag go hand in hand. Have you tested all 4? What were the results?

| Dragon Moderator ![]() | Re: Alkalinity low... What is the pH and mag levels in the tank as well? When was the last time you did a water change? Has anything died in the tank recently? How much do you feed the fish? What size is your tank? In order for the alkalinity levels to drop in a tank you have to have some fairly strong acidic reactions going on in the tank and unless we have more information then we aren't going to be able to help you very much.
