| Torch coral | Olive Snails I have these snails in the tank and they are Olive Snails from what I was told when I bought them. They burrow in the sand and come up when food is placed in the tank. The shell is smooth and shiny. I was told they were predatory. Anyone have any bad experiences with them?

| Ricordea | Re: Olive Snails ive never heard of olive snails.....but if they are nasarius snails, they live under the sand with a little siphon sticking out of the top.....they are not predatory if the animal is alive and well....they are benificial to a reef sand bed.....but they do eat mysis, brine, and pieces of fish etc...

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: Olive Snails Those are TOTALLY different than the nerites I thought you were talking about! The only little bit I can find on the ones you have, says they're predatory... Personally, I would get rid of them if that's the case...

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: Olive Snails Wouldn't surprise me. LOTS of snails eat sleeping fish...although MOST are not regularly seen in the hobby (fortunately) Cone snails are one of the first to come to mind...

| Ricordea | Re: Olive Snails ...oliva spp.OLIVE SHELLS ,ANOTHER CONE SHELL,PREDATORYfeeds on sediment infauna, such as worms and other animals....this looks just like the pic you have......they rapidly clean out your sand bed of benificial animals.....then slowly starving......they come in various colors.....NOT REEF SAFE

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Olive Snails I have one in my pony tank and so far he has been no problem. I have tons of micro brittle stars if he wants something live to eat. I was told they are reef safe but now I am wondering. Maybe I should return him.
