| Fire Coral | Re: Rusty Sandbed How old is your tank? And what setup do you have? It helps to put your equipment in your signature so anyone can better help you out. My tank went through that and about all the algae problems. Diatoms! Check your Phosphate levels. Phosban or Rowaphos works good. Hang in there!

| Has been struck by the ban stick | Re: Rusty Sandbed I've had the same issue, and have since got an RO/DI filter. I just pulled another cleanup and water change on Saturday, and so far it seems to have helped...but it'll be a couple of weeks before I know for sure. I'll try to keep you posted on if it cures that issue or not. Regards, Tom |

| Bryozoan | Re: Rusty Sandbed It's tough to say without seeing a picture. Are your nitrates up? If so it probably is diatoms. Once you get the nitrates down it will die off. If the rusty color is on your entire sandbed, it could be silica. What kind of sand did you use? |

| Achilles Tang ![]() | Re: Rusty Sandbed I get a thin algae film between the sand and the glass. A quick swipe of a credit card between the glass and sand and - poof - clean again. This is part of my weekly/monthly maintenance. Not a problem.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Rusty Sandbed I have the same thing, but mine is multi colored. I just clean it occasionally with my long handled scraper and don't really worry about it.
