Chocolate Chip Starfish

Hey all, just got a question about compatibiity....i currently have a coral angel beauty, a clarki clownfish, sgt. major damsel, bangai cardinal, cleaner shrimp, 5 astrea snails, and 3 hermit crabs.....i was interested in adding a chocolate chip starfish...would the starfish harm any of these???

-------Thanks!!!

Re: Chocolate Chip Starfish

It would probably snack on the snails.

Re: Chocolate Chip Starfish

According to the book "Reef Invertebrates-An Essential Guide to Selection, Care and Compatibility" by Calfo and Fenner, the Chocolate Chip Star is an "...opportunistic omnivore..." of other invertebrates, including anemones, crabs and sponges. Apparently it's not reef safe. If you must stay with the smaller 2-3 inch and keep it well fed.

Yes witt...they like meat...I had one before I know what I know now and it ate one of my cleaner shrimp!

They may look cool Andy but they are all you could have...unless you want to feed them to some harliquin shrimp..
