Re: Sea Hares Rock!!!

Now that would be an interresting contest. Maybe expand it to include snails at least other wise very few could compete.

Re: Sea Hares Rock!!!

Just remember if we do that we will have to look at that ugly thing for a whole month. Can you handle that?

Mine is kinda cute... he's light brown and looks like a bunny. At least until he's scooting around on the glass... then it's kinda freaky!

Sea Hares are in the Gastropod family closely related to snails... even having an internal shell. They are hardy like snails and much less delicate than other sea slugs(nudibranchs).

This practice of sharing them has been widely used in our hobby of many years. The only drawback about Sea Hares is their life span is only a year or so.

Re: Sea Hares Rock!!!

Maybe you need to be the official "Sea Hare Expert" on RS.
I only recently started hearing about these guys and now everybody is talking about them. Seem like they are a really awesome addition but the 1 yr life span does stink. Wonder if they can be captively bred?

Re: Sea Hares Rock!!!

I see that live aquaria has sea hares for 20 bucks... I have about ten small spots of hair algae in my tank... Im confused if it will consume the hair algae.????? I dont want it to starve and or expel the ink... Of course here in Wisconsin right now it is darn cold and wont feel right ordering one on the net in sub 0 weather..... Anybody see one actually mow over hair algae ?
