| Golden Moray | Re: Sea Hares Rock!!! I have read of a few people that have had their Sea Hare ink. They ran carbon to clear the tank and have reported no losses of fish or corals. I have handled my Sea Hare a few times gently and it hasn't inked. They don't ink easily from everything I've read. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Sea Hares Rock!!! The only downside I can find about them (other than the potential inking) is what to do with it once it finishes cleaning the tank for you. Many local reef clubs do share a sea hare and my lfs rents them but I'm not sure how they would fare being shipped every couple of months and I would hate to accidentally kill the animal by doing it.

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: Sea Hares Rock!!! I just added one to my tank. Didn't read about the inking before I did. I expected this guy to be very fragile, but after acclimating him like I do snails, he took off in the tank like he has been there forever. I didn't get inked with all the handling I did and have been in and around him in the tank as well. After reading your posts, a year life expectancy is short, and I'll bet he can pollute the tank quite well if he dies in it. Especially if IT can't find the bathroom (ha, ha). Hummm.....Still an interesting creature!

| Pistol Shrimp ![]() | Re: Sea Hares Rock!!! That article also says that they don't prefer hair algae. They much prefer sea lettuce, nori, etc. but will reluctantly eat the hair algae. Is that only true with the Aplysia species?

![]() He/She is 99.9% done wiping out all of my Macro algae in my tank... too bad you're not closer to South Florida... I'd let you have him/her. I had to tell my LFS to get me one... they normally don't keep them until someone asks for one. I guess it's their short life span of 1 year. I'll be posting a retake of the macro algae shot at the beggining of this thread so you can see why a Sea Hare... TOTALLY ROCKS!!! ![]() | |
