| Bryozoan | This look right? This a pic of the loose assembly of my closed loop. I am goin to run a amp 3000 with dual 1.5 inch intakes and 4 returns. The bulkheads pictured are 1 inch I am going to reduce down to 3/4 in the tank as to be able to put loc line on them? I have 2 unions one for the intake one fot the return. I also have a ball valve for the return of the pump so if I have to I can turn down the flow or shut it off incase of pump problems. What if anything am I forgetting? Oh and I also have to get intake screens for in the tank Any input is welcome Thanks Jeff |

| DIY Moderator | Jeff, You want a valve on the output and input of the pump. This way you can shut both of them off so you don't get water on the floor if you have to take the pump out of the CLS. You will want to us the valve on the return to tank side of the pump to moderate your flow, if needed. This way it doesn't harm your pump, or cause air bubbles. The 1" pipe on 4 returns will be fine. Keep us informed on how it goes.

| Just a reefer ![]() | The inputs of the pump are to small, I would go with 2 x 1 1/2 inch intakes, this way you have enough water flowing in and its spread out over two holes. That will allow for less of a draw on each hole, otherwise you have a greater chance of sucking something inot the pump. Also its a good back up system, if something clogs the one hole you have the second one as back up. mike |
