| Scopas Tang | Phosphate reduction Are phosphate reducing mediums reccommended when a refigium is in place? Just wondering if i should add something to help keep things under control while my system is growing in.... thoughts?

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Phosphate reduction Test and see where your phosphates are. Then if needed add the media. Most recommend either Phosban or Rowhas. Regardless you want one of the red colored removers not the white. (Don't you all love when I get technical? Lots of experts that can explain the difference, but I just know go for the red stuff. LOL)

| Scopas Tang | Re: Phosphate reduction i have a red film growing..im sure my system will grow out of it. And I do not have a test kit as of yet. I just like to keep problems in hand before they get OUT of hand ya know? But i don't want to starve my refigium either...

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: Phosphate reduction Almost always a sign of high phosphates. Yes, parily common with new tanks, but should be controlled as soon as possible. Controlling phosphates won't starve your fuge critters or algaes. Phosban and Rowaphos are perhaps the 2 best media for this, and should be used in a specialized reactor.
