Wow Kevin, sweet pictures! I'm so sorry about the Flame - they are one darn cool fish. So glad you found the Watchman though ~ that's awesome!!

1/8 handheld eh? Were you bracing against anything or do you just drink waaaaay less coffee than I do
LOL - with the Nikon's "BSS" feature (best-shot-selector), I find I can pull some decent shots out of even low exposures.

Great stuff!

I think most of us have at one time had a carpet sufer, I know I have had one. To this day I keep thinking maybe I should have done something different to stop him.

Very sorry about the Flame! I always wanted one of them. I had a Watchman that was gone for a couple months too. Found it in the third chamber of my sump one day battered up. I squealed when I found it, I was thrilled it was still alive! I put it back in the tank and found it dead the next day. Here I thought I was saving it and it must of been on it's last day!
That's great that you found yours and the pics are great as always!

First off...great pictures...even more so without the use of a tripod.

Second, I'm sorry for your loss. I have only had one fish jump out on me, my hepatus tang. However, I was just as fortunate as you in that it only jumped into my overflow...wife and kids told me that htey hadn't seen it all day, so I looked around the back of the tank, fearing the worst, and there it was on the bottom of the overflow. It was no easy chore getting it out of there...had to drain the water to near the bottom in order to net it (not an easy task when the overflow box is 21" deep and 4" square). Other than a small temporary bend to its tail, it came out of it no worse for wear.

Teri, glad to hear the BSS works on your coolpix. I have affectionately renamed mine the "Blurriest Shot Selector."

I looked up the 3100 on www.dpreview.com and did not see manual shutter control, so I don't think you can change the shutterspeed.
