| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Using RED MANGROVE I have investigated this repeatedly and there seem to be mixed reviews on mangroves. From what I have gathered they are more or less like any of your plants you may keep in a fuge etc. They will remove the nitrates etc but they are stored in the leaves. If the leaves fall into the fuge the trates are released back into the water. My lfs is trying them now so I am waiting a bit to see how they do for him then maybe try some in my system. It would be great to hear some first hand experiences either good or bad.

| Angel Girl's Daddy ![]() | Re: Using RED MANGROVE I had them on the 90 in NY. There slow growing and slow means slow nitrate removal also. I like them in the fuge and will go that way again but for looks not for exporting. You could get a lot of use out of them if you add a lot of them. I found razor macro to be the best exporter sofar. It grows like a weed and dosen't go sexual. |

| Midas Blenny | Re: Using RED MANGROVE Mangroves, I see them at the LFS sometimes but, it would take a 500g fuge full of mangroves to filter a 50g tank effectivly so for using as a filter not so effective but for putting a couple in the fuge for decorative addition, great but only if you have the extra room and lighting to spare, not for me since I side with the hidden fuge method. realy cool in a SW pond enviro. maybe in tropical sunny florida but not the rainy state of WA
