| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: Oceanic model 6 We used to use one on an old oceanic 75. I'm not sure the recomended tank capacity on those thing though. I was never really impressed with the skimmate production on those skimmers.

| Reef Lobster | Re: Oceanic model 6 Couldn't find specs, did find this quote. Out of the other little blurbs I found people really didn't favor them much. Kind of weird Oceanic doesn't have them on their site...??... "Hi Dave : I have 2 Oceanic #6 protein skimmers running on my 90 gallon reef tank and they are great. The only problem I have is that one of them plugs up periodically with salt in the venture valve but all I do is unplug it using a piece of twisted wire like a pipe cleaner. I've read that if you can put you're skimmers on a timer that can be turned off and on several times per day that it will not allow the venture valves to plug up because the water will back up into the valve and wash away the salt build-up.I will try that when I can get back down to the States to buy one of those air conditioner timers, because they allow the use of three prong plugs. They are hard to find and are very expensive here in Canada."

| Totally stoked dude ![]() | Re: Oceanic model 6 The two model 6 skimmers we had were sent to our store probably at least 10 years ago. It is not something they produce or sell anymore. I had a pdf sheet at one time with the instructions. They were a nice little unit that came with an Eheim pump. The downside to them is they used a solid grey body to the skimmer, which made it impossible to see the inside of it and the bubble production, it obviously had a baffle system inside the skimmer which made it nearly impossible to clean out (in addition to the solid grey body). Finally it is impossible to find a replacement venturi if you break yours We had two in a display tank at the store for a long time, finally replaced it with a euroreef. Got much better skimming. Might work better with a larger pump, but never tried so I'm not really sure.
