| No Longer a Member | Johnny, johnny, johnny, ALWAYS drip kalk in a reef tank! simplest and easiest thing to do. This will improve your pH and if you do not need all the calcium it will just precipitate out and end up as dust in your sand. Ends up being the same chemically as the argonite sand. Even soft corals use calcium just not to the extent that LPS and SPS do. Plus you have a clam. I will shock and awe everyone here, but I have purchased two test kits in my life. One Calcium and one Alkalinity. I passed the remainder of those on to a fellow reefer. I do the dip the finger and taste test! JUST KIDDING. Anyhow, We set the friends tank up and adjust everything and let it cycle well and used good reef tank keeping techiniques and they went out and purchased a whole slew of test kits. Everything tested out perfectly. I am not saying it is a good thing. But my reef thrives on careful neglect! I do not chase numbers. I just try to keep everything normal day in and day out. Stabile temp, salinity, lighting schedule, and so forth keeps things from dying and thus no problem with the other stuff. Also feeding sparingly so you do not pollute the tank. Works for me! |

| Has been struck by the ban stick | Yeah Stoney I was pretty much the same way but I think I need to go back and start testing on a routine basis as my maintenance is not always as it should be. Looks like the PH is pretty much back to where it should be after adding buffer for a couple of days. ![]() |
