| Moderator ![]() | Re: 30g Oceanic Cubes - What Lights Do You Have? Below is a picture of the lights we are using or should I say, going to use on our 30 when we finally get the time to set it up. 96w 50/50 4-tube cp with 2 cooling fans. The lights are very bright! Granted we wont be keeping anything that needs stronger lights. I plan on mainly softies. |

| Torch coral | Re: 30g Oceanic Cubes - What Lights Do You Have? thank you. only draw back to the oceanics are the 20" (30g) and 30" (50g) dimensions when it comes to lighting choices. granted, there are different avenues you could take, but i'd prefer something similar to what gina posted but with a little more wattage.

| Torch coral ![]() | Re: 30g Oceanic Cubes - What Lights Do You Have? Ever thought of making an oversized hood? For 20" tank say 24" T5's and 30" with 36" T5's. I'm switching my lighting on the 29 gal (30") to 36" T5's. It looks rather un finished without a hood but your gaining efficiecy because florescents are brighter towards the middle ad much dimmer towards the ends. So your eliminating the weakest portions of the bulbs and gaing some extra punch in the longer and more powerful bulbs.

| Torch coral | Re: 30g Oceanic Cubes - What Lights Do You Have? yes, i have thought of that. but i can be a very anal person when it comes to that kinda thing. i've seen similar set ups and admit they look fine. but if i'm going to throw money at it i want it to be exactly what i want. unfortunately right now, that means the oceanics (altough a nice tank) doesnt' meet the bill when it comes to the look i'm after with lighting. the other reason i got on this tanget is because of petco's $1 a gallon sale they are having this week on their fish tanks.
