NoIsEy coralife fan~

A fan on my 20" coralife fixture is very noisey

I did a search an it seems that many other reefers are having the same problem but no info on how to fix it...

Has anyone successfully fixed this issue? If so, how?

can you just replace it? or is it even that hot, that you can just disconnect it ?

I customized my Current PC fixture by reversing the air flow to inwards and cutting out all of the protective ribs/ fan guards. Then I added a 1 1/2" to 1 PVC adapter over the intake to muffle the noisey fan. Do you have the 96wt quad tube fixture?

Thanks Billy.. I just took the fixture apart and was going to disconnect one of the two fans... Because the fans ran very quietly alone, I cleaned them very well (dust balls everywhere!!), put it back together and now it is working fine. There is a tiny bit of noise but nothing like it was. I suppose it could have been the horrible dust bunnies or maybe I put it back together a bit better?

Anyway, it is much better for now.... Thanks!!

Ive got a quad coralife and it isnt near as noisy as my Current 30". Ive never considered moding my Coralife though. I'll take a look at it later and give some more input.

it could have been dust on the blades causing an off balance.
