| Bryozoan | Something Growing In Sump There's all this white stuff growing in my sump. Mainly found on the glass{stationary} but there are some on my tubing and skimmer. They look like little white crystals. II'll try to post pics later, but I wanted to ask ASAP in case someone might already now what this is. One more thing, while looking at these I saw another white thing that's moving. It's on the glass, it moves like a snail, but it's really tiny. Looks like a a sperm with two tails. heh... kinda looks like this o< its about the same size too All this seemed to appear soon after I added some mangroves in there along with a 50watt plant light. Thanks in advance.

I've heard the clear ones were harmless also. It's the reddish ones that can cause problmes. | |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Something Growing In Sump Sounds like flatworms to me as well. I read some mixed reviews on them but it seems they are ok unless you get an "infestation". Then they need to be reomoved. If they are pods, then great. I have heard nothing but good about those and add them to my tank regularly until I get my fuge set-up and running so they can live there happily. (Until they become food in the display anyway.) Withought a pic of the other I wouldn't even want to guess and others are way better at id anyway. I'm just too new. LOL Keep us posted on the mangroves please. I am seriously considering adding them to my fuge when it gets set-up but keep hearing mixed reviews. I would love to hear your experience with them.

| Bryozoan | Re: Something Growing In Sump It looks like you are getting the common 'pineapple sponge'. I know theres another name for it but all you need to know is that they are a harmless filter feeder that likes to grow in dark places. It will seem like they are everywhere, and then they'll slow dissappear and return. I see some pods on the glass too, which are always welcome little creepy crawlies! The little spiraly hard thing is a worm, you'll see the little head like a feather duster if you get close with a magifying glass. They are also harmless filter feeders and will not harm anything. ![]() Means your tank is happy and healthy - good job

| Bryozoan | Re: Something Growing In Sump awesome thanks again. I was worried there for a minute, i thought I had some ich "gone wild there" or something...lol anyways which ones are the pods, are they the little specs on the glass. I should just leave these alone then and not scrub them off right?
