powder blue tang

Just bought it Friday and have notice that it likes to nibble on my finger leather and feather duster. It is suppose to be reef safe. Beautiful fish but really like my corals. Any suggestions ??

Re: powder blue tang

What else do you have in the tank? Kinda small IMHO but known to be agressive as well. Keep your eyes open for probs w/other fish you may have.

Re: powder blue tang

I would suggest that you pick up a cleaner shrimp, as these fish are prone to ich.
I have one, he's fun to watch. It will pick up hermit crabs and shells, and carry them up to the top of the tank then drop them. I think he's foraging for 'pods.
I've never seen him nibble on any corals. He does bully the other fish.

That is way too small for these fish. They belong to the genus Acanthurus which are open water swimmers, definitely not recommended for small tanks and can become VERY aggressive with other tankmates. The only Tang I'd recommend for a tank that size is a Yellow Tang.
