Enough Light?

I'm going to be upgrading my tank to a 36 gallon corner tank. I just recently bought a coralife pc fixture thats 130 watts. That rounds to about 3.6 watts per gallon. I know this is enough light for soft corals but is it enough light for lps corals...the ones im thinking of are closed brain coral, frogspawn, trumpet, oxypora, and hammer

Re: Enough Light?

kinda a tough one... I think it will be enough if you place them higher in the tank,,, How much rock you gonna have? 3 watts is the minimum for these corals, So it will be kinda iffy.... Good luck

Re: Enough Light?

I would say possible as blue said way high in the tank. Is it possible to get a refund on the light spend a few bucks more and get a 150 hqi? Igot a sunpaq from ebay from a vendor called jcaquatics for $269 shipped and it is a beautiful thing can keep almost anything under it at most levels. HTH

Re: Enough Light?

I kept many different corals including LPS with 130 W of PC's in a 42 gal for about 2 years without any problems, but I did keep the LPS in the upper half of the tank.

Re: Enough Light?

thanks for the responses. I won't be able to get a refund for the light. So i won't have the extra money to get halide lighting. But i will get enough money selling my current tank for an additional 96 watt pc.
