Unhappy clam ate my wrass

i have a beautiful clam in my tank....buuuut....last nite i was checking everything out and what did i see...my favorite fish, a green wrass head first caught in the clams grip of death. i tried to pry it open but there was no way that sucker is strong.. he actually squeezed him so hard his insides came out, then my conch came up and started eating what ever came out..(i know lil bit too much info)...im devastated..he was my second wrass after the first one didnt make it...

im gonna get rid of the clam i suppose i cant chance him killling off anymore fish..as of now almost 24 hours later the fish is still caught in the clam..so now im subjected to seeing my dead fish everytime i look in the tank...which is quite often,..is he gonna eat him or was he just trying to defend himself..my question is ,is that normal do clams usually attack fish or was it maybe a freak accident (r.i.p. greenie)

Re: clam ate my wrass

It is not common, but it happens from time to time. As far as I know, the clam is not trying to eat the fish. Probably just a defensive reaction. Hopefully, the clam will open before holding a dead fish kills it too.

Also, what kind of clam is it?

Re: clam ate my wrass

There was a thread at RC of a Crocea killing a Koran Angel the same way, just got too close and the Clam caught him.

Re: clam ate my wrass

they are called "killer clams" for a reason. an adult gigas can easily kill a diver~

Re: clam ate my wrass

Sorry about your wrasee and clam. How is the clam now? Last time you mentioned it, it sounded bad.
