Re: Calcium buffers, Kalkwasser, and 2 Part Additives!?!

ok well boomer tonight i will begin adding the turbo ca...i went to the calculator and i plugged in my current valvu for ca...measured tonight - 320 ppm...i plugged in 40 gals and i want to raise my ca up 25 pts to 345 ppm...i want to be safe when doing this so i choose a number of gallons in which i know that i have for certian...with more water then 40 this will just mean that it will take me a little longer to raise my ca to 400 ppm but thats ok i would rather be safe then sorry!

although the kent turbo ca shows that it will have little effect on my ph, i am choosing to add at night when either my fuge light is only on or when no lights are on...also to ensure safety!

finally, i tested new water that i mixed up for a water change tomorrow (its been sitting for 24 hrs now)...it tested at 8 dkh and 320 ppm...since i am going to raise my ca in my main tank, i will be adding some of my turbo ca to my mixing container so that the ca levels are higher...

so does this all sound ok?

RR - do not forget to test your magnesium. It can have a direct impact on calcium levels. It should be 1250 - 1350 ppm. I recommend a Salifert test kit.

Re: Calcium buffers, Kalkwasser, and 2 Part Additives!?!

ok boomer...good news...i hit the 400 ppm mark! and that was with my test kit...i am also going to go up to the LFS or billys to double check my levels...but here they are...

ca - 400 ppm
alk - 7 dkh

now that i am at 400 ppm i should begin to use the 2 part addative or kalkwasser to continue to raise and maintaine my levels correct?

thanks!
